Is Fika really a replacement for Shutterfly Share Sites?
Yes, in the ways that made Share Sites matter: an invite-only space owned by your group, where every member can add photos into shared albums (we call them collections), organized by event and season. Fika was started by people whose own groups used Share Sites until the shutdown, and it exists to be the home those groups lost.
What does Fika cost?
There is a free plan with 10 GB of storage and no time limit. The paid plan is $15 per month per organization, with 250 GB of storage, unlimited members, and every feature. Only the group owner pays. Members, admins, and viewers never pay anything.
Do our members need accounts?
Yes. People join through an email invite or a shareable link and sign in with a free account. That account is what keeps the space genuinely invite-only, so only the people your group approves can see its photos.
Can we still get our photos out of Shutterfly?
The Share Sites themselves are gone, but photos added to a site were tied to the Shutterfly account of the person who uploaded them, so they may still be in that person’s Shutterfly library. Ask the members who did most of the uploading to check their accounts, then rebuild the archive together in one place.
Is Fika private?
Every space is invite-only, with no public feed and no discovery page. Fika runs no AI or facial recognition on photos, sells no advertising, and never sells or licenses your data. The business is storage, paid by the group owner, and that is the whole model.
What happens if Fika ever shuts down?
A fair question to ask anyone after 2023. Two honest answers: your photos are never locked in, since you can download everything at full quality at any time, and Fika is built on a deliberately durable model where the people using it are the ones paying for it, not advertisers.
