How Fika keeps your photos private

Privacy is the point of Fika. Your group’s photos belong to your group, not to a public feed and not to us.

Private to your group

Only people who’ve been invited to a group can see its collections. There are no public profiles and no algorithmic feed mixing your photos with strangers’. You decide who’s in the group through invites, and you can set roles so some people can only view.

No AI, and no facial recognition

Fika doesn’t run artificial intelligence or machine learning on your photos. We don’t scan faces, we don’t recognize or tag people automatically, and your photos and personal data are never used to train AI models or shared with anyone else for that purpose. Fika is built to store and organize your group’s memories, not to analyze the people in them.

The one thing Fika does notice is when two photos are the same picture, which helps a group clean up duplicate copies and keeps a removed photo from being uploaded again. That’s a plain comparison of how two images look, using a mathematical fingerprint. It isn’t AI, it doesn’t recognize faces or identify anyone, and it never reads what’s in a photo.

Keeping the group comfortable

• View-only members let you share widely without giving everyone the ability to change things.
• Takedowns let a photo be reported and removed. When a photo is taken down, it’s blocked from being uploaded to the group again, and similar-looking copies can be caught for an owner or admin to review. See report a photo.
