Report a photo (takedowns)

If a photo shouldn’t be in the group, anyone can ask for it to be taken down. This is how you flag a picture of yourself you’d rather not share, or content that doesn’t belong.

Request a takedown

Open the photo so it fills the screen, and choose Request Takedown in the panel beside it. You can add a reason. Every member can do this, including view-only members.

What happens next depends on your role and the group’s settings:

• Requests from viewers, and requests on locked collections, always go to an owner or admin for review before anything is removed.
• Owners and admins can act on takedowns directly.

What a takedown does

When a takedown is approved, the photo is removed from the group and can’t be uploaded again. A few things happen at once:

• The photo is deleted, along with any exact copies of the same file already in the group.
• Fika keeps a fingerprint of the photo (not the photo itself) so the exact file is turned away automatically if anyone tries to upload it again.
• Fika also looks for look-alikes: edited or re-saved versions of the same photo, such as a resized, cropped, screenshotted, or recompressed copy. These are not removed automatically. They’re listed for an owner or admin to review, so a person always makes the call.

The fingerprint is a plain comparison of how two images look. It isn’t AI, it doesn’t recognize faces or identify anyone, and it never reads what’s in a photo. See how Fika keeps your photos private.

Look-alike matches (owners and admins)

Owners and admins see look-alike matches on the Takedowns screen, under To review. They show up two ways:

• When a takedown is approved, Fika checks the rest of the group for edited copies of the photo just removed.
• When someone uploads a close copy later, it’s flagged for review rather than being deleted on the spot, since a similar-looking photo can occasionally be a false match.

Each match stays visible in its collection until you decide. Choose Remove it to delete that photo, or Keep it to leave it in place. Removing a look-alike takes down that one photo; it doesn’t change anything else.

Choosing how strict matching is (owners and admins)

You can set how close a photo has to be before Fika flags it against something you’ve taken down. In your group’s settings, Takedown matching offers two choices:

• Exact copies only: just re-uploads of the exact same file are caught. A recompressed or cropped version would slip through.
• Copies and edited versions (the default): also catches the same photo after it has been resized, cropped, screenshotted, or recompressed.

Reviewing requests (owners and admins)

The Takedowns screen has two tabs. To review lists pending removal requests and look-alike matches; everything there is still visible in its collection until you act. History shows what’s already been removed. Approving a request removes the photo and adds the re-upload block; denying it leaves the photo in place.
